Tree of Many Branches
Hsin Lu International
Masters' Council

Renshi Richard Brown began his training in the martial arts in 1988 with American Kenpo under Sensei Robert Edwards. In 1991, he was introduced to the Shinjimasu International Martial Arts Association and the Hsin Lu Chuan Shu Tong Association, and it was during this time that he fell in love with the whole of the Arts – their study, their practice, their teachings. In fact, it was through the Hsin Lu organization that Mr. Brown began what would become a life-long journey for further knowledge and understanding into the true way of martial training – a journey which continues as his mantra and inspiration to this day.
In the year 2000, Mr. Brown began to train with the Butokan Karate School and Shihan Richard Mitchell. Through the evolution of his years of training, Mr. Brown trained in traditional karate (Shotokan & Goju), judo, western boxing, and Tae Kwon Do (in the year 2003 under Kunsu Kim). Then in 2007, Mr. Brown was promoted to 5th Dan by Master Richard Mitchell.
Renshi Brown has been teaching traditional karate with kata, applications and translations for the practical use of those movements in his own school since 1998. His school also teaches self defense and some weapons training.
In 2008, Renshi Brown joined the Hsin Lu Tao Academy of Martial Arts family, and further, was appointed as a member of the Master’s Council for Hsin Lu International in recognition of his skill, proficiency, and unquestionable expertise. His school now forms an integral part of the Hsin Lu family of martial arts instruction.
