Guro Erick CruzGuro Erick "Sanko" Cruz

Guro Erick Cruz started his Martial Arts training in Karate Do in the Philippines in 1984. He lived in the Philippines for many years and served in the USAF from 1988 until 2005.

In 2005, Guro Erick left active duty and went into the reserves to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. He graduated in July 2005 from the Southern Desert Regional Police Academy and is currently working for the Clark County Justice Court in Las Vegas, Nevada as a Deputy Sheriff.

Guro Erick is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Aikido under Kai Shin Kai, United Kingdom. Additionally, Guro Erick was the 2000 World Eskrima, Kali, Arnis (WEKAF) Federation middleweight champion.

In 2005, Guro Erick became a full instructor in Jeet Kune Do under Professor Hargrave from the World Jeet Kune Do Federation.  Guro Erick is PG Bill Garness right-hand man and is in charge of all of the control holds and Aikido.

Guro Erick has been training in Martial Arts for 25 years and is charged with assisting the development of the Filipino Mixed Martial Arts in the Laban sa Lahat System as its co-founder.

In December 8, 2006, Guro Erick was promoted to Black Belt 8th degree under the United States Kali Association and Tuhon Gaudiosa Ruby. On August 4th, 2007 Guro Erick was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, and July 26th, 2008 was inducted into the Filipino Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

In 2008, in recognition of his significant accomplishments and his contribution to the martial arts, Mr. Barnett was appointed to the Grand Master’s Council of Hsin Lu International.

In 2008, Guro Erick was appointed to the Grand Master’s Council of Hsin Lu International by Soke Moralez.  This appointment recognizes his contribution and achievements in the martial arts, and acknowledges him as Co-Founder of the Laban sa Lahat System.
